Description
Officially called the Renaissance Center, the Ren Cen is a seven building interconnected complex that was built in 1977. Bought by General Motors in 1996, they commenced to undergo an eight year renovation that included the addition of the five-story Wintergarden atrium that overlooks the Detroit River. My visits to the Ren Cen have been mostly to the central hotel tower. Some have called its architecture bizarre and many, myself included, have gotten trapped or lost on one of the many round concrete balconies. This photo is a birds eye view of one of the two dozen eating establishments in the Ren Cen. With the Linhof camera I used for the photoshoot I could have performed a shift movement to straighten out the vertical structures, but I decided not to as the leaning lines added to the ethereal vibe I was feeling.
