Description
Home of the B.B. King Blues Club, the Orpheum Theatre, and The Pig restaurant, Beale Street was officially declared as the ‘The Home of the Blues’ by an act of Congress in 1977. The list of great musicians who got their start on the vibrant street includes Louis Armstrong, Muddy Waters and B. B. King. With nightclubs open until 5AM, millions of tourists annually enjoy tons of adult beverages and sumptuous southern cuisine to the tune of some of our nations best live music. Created by Robert Church, America’s first black millionaire in the late 1800’s, this Historic Landmark is a must see for anyone who visits Memphis. With trusty Nikon on Gitzo tripod I left snowy Michigan in December of 2010 to serpentine along the Mississippi River to capture the energy and delight of Beale Street.
