Description
Michigan’s Grand Hotel is an historic site and coastal resort on Mackinac Island which is located at the eastern end of the Straits of Mackinac within Lake Huron. Constructed in the late 19th century, the facility advertises itself as having the world's largest porch. The Grand Hotel is well known for a number of notable visitors including five U.S. presidents, Thomas Edison, and Mark Twain. To non-Michigan residents the island and the hotel is probably most remembered for its staring role in the cult classic “Somewhere in time”. This photo of the hotel was taken from the Tea Garden, a favorite venue for weddings and photographers.
