Description
A scenic northern Michigan highway begins north of Torch Lake at the juncture of US-31 and C48. Motoring east, the first leg of The Breezeway is a country road doted by a plurality of small lakes and creeks which veers south at Best Road to follow along the west side of Skinner Creek. Running through the town of Ellsworth, C48 hugs the shoreline of the very long and thin Saint Clare Lake to form the next bucolic leg of The Breezeway which takes the intrepid traveler through the heritage rich downtown of East Jordon. With gentle dips and turns the road crosses over many creeks and wetlands on its way to Deer Lake and the foot hills of Boyne Mountain. Sixty ski runs and a dozen chairlifts crisscross the grounds of The Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa Ski Resort. Along the Breezeway 28 miles of scenic overlooks, recreational areas, hiking, biking, and kayaking delight the adventurous traveler while the more layback traveler can enjoy the many art galleries, antique shops, orchards, farms, markets, rustic lodging, restaurants, and summer festivals.
