Description
With tourism bringing in $18 billion a year, its no wonder that Michigan and its Pure Michigan tourism program seeks to make a visitors visit to the mitten state a memorable experience. Not only are many of the rest areas works of art with gardens, hiking trails, observation platforms, food courts, play areas, dog runs, tour guides, sculpture, and original artwork but many of its gas stations follow suit. I was filling up my Jeep Cherokee at the Shell station in Stevensville, admiring one of the beautiful flower gardens that line the perimeter, when I noticed how the previous evenings rain had left puddles which reflected the cheerful colors of verdant oasis. Then I got a flash of inspiration Why not drive through the puddles and let my Jeeps knobby All-Season tires leave behind a little art work in the spirit of criss-crossing contrails. And so it was done, followed by my transferring the artwork to film via my Plaubel Makina 67 press camera.
