Artist's Description
I was on a photography vacation in the Owen Sound Ontario area and ventured out one morning to photograph Eugenia Falls. It was late December and the combination of cold snowy days followed by sunny days with no strong winds gave this photographer beautiful snow and ice formations. Eugenia Falls is seen from the top. In wintertime the water keeps flowing and falling, but it is concealed by snow and ice. This scene was found about thirty feet upstream from the falls and shows the calm before the frothy 90’ drop. On this late December day the lighting was perfect yet fleeting which required me to race around to setup my clunky but reliable Linhof Technica view camera. I was confident that the T-max-100 4 X 5 sheet film, once scanned, would yield the 50+MB resolution needed to produce the full range tonality that this image demanded.
