Of the U.S. Virgin Islands St. Thomas is the most developed of the three with Charlotte Amalie being the largest city. In both of my visits to the territory I enjoyed meandering through the neighborhoods and mingling with the locals. Over the years I had heard much about the Rastafarians and so was delighted when a guy I named ‘Rosti’ approached me with extended hand. With Plaubel Makina and camera bag I must have appeared to be a serious photographer and my new friend Rosti beckoned me to photograph him. I was delighted, got off a few shots, and insisted on paying him a gratuity.
