Artist's Description
Traverse City Michigan is world famous for its annual National Cherry Festival. In the Summer of 1982 I happened to be in the area during the cherry harvest and that year had a bumper crop! I was on my way to Mackinac Island and was stopping at every wunderland along the way and that of course included Traverse City. I came upon a beautiful cherry orchard which had dozens of migrant workers scurrying around gathering in the harvest. I stopped my car and approached the owner who generously gave me permission to photograph his orchard. Like the harvest I got a bumper crop of photos that day with one of my favorites being a shot of a pretty young lady up on a ladder picking cherries. I don�t know if she spoke English or not for when I lifted my camera she smiled and hit a perfect pose. With cherry red headband and shirt of leafy green her apparel was as perfect as her modeling. I used my Fujica AX-3 camera on Kodak 400 film to photograph the Muchacha Bonita.
