Artist's Description
In August of 2013 I was up in the Traverse Bay area for a few days to photograph and recharge my right brain batteries before the start of a new semester at GVSU. I awoke early to capture some of the wonders of the Leelanau Peninsula with the golden light of the early hours. I motored north on M22 and by the time the sun was rising I was on the outskirts of the charming town of Suttons Bay. I had driven over the Leo Creek Bridge many times and had always grabbed a quick glance of the little pond on the west side of the road. To my surprise, on this clear warm August day, it looked stunning. There were beams of light gracefully bathing two little islands of pond grass with a warmish glow while the deep forest-green shadows of the creek banks hugged the creek one last time before it emptied into the mighty Traverse Bay. The light was changing second by second and so I grabbed my trusty Nikon and managed to squeeze off but two shots before the heavenly light changed.
