Description
I was in Anaheim for a business trip and staying with a friend in Newport Beach. I walked around the beach with my Plaubel Makina 6X7 camera, a camera I used for hand held shooting which gave me razor sharp 'near tripod' resolution thanks to its rangefinder design and copal leaf shutter. I had been out on the big pier and was heading back when I noticed the unique path that some guy had imprinted into the sand when he had decided to do a 180 and head back. I only had one chance to get the guy exactly where I wanted him. I squeezed off the shot and then felt the usual exhileration I get when I'm confident I've snatched a winner. I printed it as a negative (or inverted) image to reverse the tones. This print won the Boyce Marine award in 1997.
