Description
In the Autumn of 2010 I spent the night in Paradise Michigan before venturing on to the primal shores of Lake Superior. After checking into Curley’s Paradise motel I motored south to Chippewa county to enjoy the final hours of a lovely October afternoon. Soon I turned east onto Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway, a beautiful stretch of road that hugs the southern shoreline of Whitefish Bay. Most people travel the Byway to take the scenic route to Brimley or to hike out to Menekaunee and Naomikong Points which, side by side, jut out into Tahquamenon Bay; a little bay within the bigger Bay. Just east of the ‘twin Points’ I passed by Roxbury Creek and then noticed that the roadside maples were in full Fall regalia. I turned into a scenic lookout park and grabbed my trusty 6 X 8 view camera. The best angle of view was on the far side of the road with camera pointing to the northwest. The sun was now low in the western sky and poured forth a warmish glow to kindle billowing maples in a blaze of reds and yellows.
