Description
Duck Lake State Park is a very popular venue in west Michigan on hot summer days. Located north of Muskegon and south of White Hall, it borders Lake Michigan and its awesome 200 miles of pristine lakeshore. The land was purchased by the Nature Conservancy from two Boy Scout organizations and then sold to the state of Michigan in 1974. The park wraps around the north side of Duck Lake and features a large sand dune and a heavenly beach. Although Duck Lake offers excellent swimming, the creek that connects the lake to Lake Michigan is even more popular. With crystal clear water gently flowing over a creek bed of soft white sand, the creek depth seldom exceeds three feet- perfect for a casual dip on a hot summer afternoon. I got this photograph of the happy bathers from the bridge that carries North Scenic Drive over Duck Creek. I used my hand held Plaubel Makina medium format camera with Reala film.
