Description
At an elevation of 922 feet, San Francisco’s Twin Peaks present a dramatic view of the iconic city. I lived in the San Francisco Bay area for about a year in the 1970’s and, as cab driver and Driver’s Training Instructor, came to know the streets very well. I returned as a tourist to the ‘city by the bay’ in December of 1997. Early one morning I left my family sleeping in our hotel room and motored up Market Street to Portola to veer onto Twin Peaks Blvd. The view from the Summit that morning was stunning; fog was lifting off the bay and the sky had stratus nimbus clouds that were highlighted by the rising sun. On the edge of the Summit parking lot I angled my Horseman view camera on Gitzo tripod parallel to Market Street below to paint in a foreground of switchback turn and dappled groundcover, the city of seven hills rising to herald another day.
