Thirty miles west of Chicago is the Fox River Valley. I’ve motored up and down Route 31 along the valley many times. Heading north from North Aurora one goes through Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, South Elgin and finally Elgin before taking Interstate 90 back to Chicago. There are many compelling sights along the way including a charming little Mexican restaurant which has mural paintings on all sides. The north side has a buxom ‘muchacha bonita’ peering down from a faux second floor But my favorite is the bull fighting mural on the back of the eatery which is complimented by a rugged wooden bench which, once upon a time, gave relief to many a weary traveler.
