Description
It was just after sunrise. I had climbed the big dune that overlooks Holland Harbor in the hope of photographing the iconic Big Red Lighthouse that proudly stood at the waters edge on the other side of the canal. But for its pulsating red lamp, Big Red was not to be seen through the very thick fog of that warm July morning. So I turned and looked along the ridge of the dune and was delighted to see weathered dune flora bathed in steamy fog against a steel gray background. And the leaves of the rugged hardwood under which I stood had fortuitously framed the subtle yet elegant scene. I knew that the light and the fog was quickly changing so l scampered to set up my Linhof Technica on Gitzo tripod. I loaded it with film holder of T-MAX 100 film and squeezed off but a couple of shots. There was no Big Red that morning but I didnt care.
