Traverse City Michigan is world famous for its annual National Cherry Festival. In the Summer of 1982 I happened to be in the area during the cherry harvest and that year had a bumper crop! I was on my way to Mackinac Island and was stopping at every wunderland along the way and that of course included Traverse City. I came upon a beautiful cherry orchard which had dozens of migrant workers scurrying around gathering in the harvest. I stopped my car and approached the owner who generously gave me permission to photograph his orchard. Like the harvest I got a bumper crop of photos that day with one of my favorites being a shot of the owner’s grandson and his migrant worker buddy. The two amigos were hard at work and play that day but paused for a minute to pose for the bearded stranger. The handsome young men were captured on Kodak 400 film that was loaded into my Fujica AX-3 camera.
